'OW that this school year is drawing to a close, we leave to posterity a
N record of speakers whom we found delightful and instructive.
When football was in full bloom, the Board secured Coach "Tuss”
McLaughry, the Brown mentor, who met with especial approval in
the eyes of the students. One of the exceptional talkers was Clarence E.
Sherman, Providence librarian, whose topic was "Roughneck to Poet Laureate
of England.’’ Before the national election, the committee drew from the ranks
of the school a true connoisseur of politics, Mr. Raines, who spoke on the merits
of the candidates and the probable outcome of the election.
Such has been the extraordinary run of speakers which the Board has
enlisted for the pleasure of the student body. Assisting throughout, has been
Mr. Patterson, Faculty Adviser, suggesting enjoyable lecturers and willingly
rendering music for the singing.
With only a few weeks left, the Board has picked other talented speakers
to add to its already enviable achievements.
