February 4? Nope, not yet. March 4? Nope, not
yet! March 18? Yes, finally. Criss Cross, after being
postponed twice, due to the weather, was held on
           March 18.
“The first time they cancelled Criss Cross I was
disappointed,” said Junior Amy Krobot,“butI would
have been more disappointed if I had to go. It was so
cold, the weather would have ruined the evening.”
Senior Julie Allen said, “I still can’t believe that
            happened.”
                Duane Hemminger, Student Council sponsor,
said, “In all the years I have been here, Criss Cross
has never been postponed. It wasn’t my decision to
postpone it, Dr. Rippe did. He had the final call.”
“The Emerald City” was the theme of Criss Cross
’89, and according to Hemminger, attendance didn’t
go down much due to the postponements. “Less than
five percent asked for refunds on the tickets,” he
            said.
Hemminger said Criss Cross would never have
been totally cancelled. “It’s the only semiformal
dance for underclassmen. We had already bought
the decorations, and the majority of the people still
            wanted to have the dance.”
