                              STEADFAST AND LOYAL
                               will take the reader to the front line
                               of one of the pivotal battles of the  in New Book
                               Vietnam War. 50 years ago the
                               1 st Brigade of the Fourth Infantry Division,
                               with attached battalions from the
                               1 st Air Cavalry Division, 173 rd Airborne
                               Brigade  and  South  Vietnameese
                               Army, fought this massive battle for  LTC Bob Quinn ‘55, US Army Retired, recently published his book Th  e Battle
         33 days. As told by author and soldier, Robert Quinn, The Battle of Dak-To pulls
         no punches in conveying the story of a battle that was fought  of Dak-To Steadfast and Loyal to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this
         not only in the jungles of Vietnam, but also in the hearts and
         minds of American civilians at home. The author’s first hand  pivotal Vietnam battle.
         accounts of the bravery, skill and resilience of his fellow soldiers
         are realistically and honestly woven into the book’s gripping
         narrative that details how and why we were fighting in Vietnam.

                                        Remembering Fr. Leo Hetzler, CSB ‘43


                                           eloved alumnus, Basilian Father and WWII veteran Fr. Leo Hetzler, CSB ‘43, passed away in
                                        BMay at the age of 91.


                                        Aft er graduating from Aquinas, Fr. Leo enlisted in the U.S. Army as a combat infantryman, serving
                                        in both Europe and in the Pacifi c during WWII. He received the Combat Infantrymen’s Award and
                                        remained active as a local and national chaplain of the Combat Infantrymen of America.


                                        Fr. Leo was ordained a priest in the congregation of St. Basil in 1955 and later received his Ph.D. in
                                        English Literature from Cornell University. He was a professor of English at St. John Fisher College
                                        for many years and served on the Aquinas Institute Board of Trustees for over 15 years.


                                        Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.



               Amato ’05 & Mannara ’81 Ordained




         Fr. Anthony Amato ’05 was ordained at Sacred Heart Cathedral
         on June 3, 2017. He is now Parochial Vicar at Blessed Trinity and
         St. Patrick Parish in Tioga County, NY. Many of Fr. Amato’s AQ
                      predecessors were in attendance.                                         Fr. Kevin Mannara C.S.B. ’81
                                                                                               was ordained to the priesthood
                                                                                               in August 2017 and is now the
                                                                                               Director of Campus Ministry at
                                                                                               St. John Fisher College. Prior to
                                                                                               becoming a priest, Fr. Mannara
                                                                                               was a high school teacher. He
                                                                                               taught locally at Bishop Kearney
                                                                                               High School and later, taught on
                                                                                               the west coast at a school in the
                                                                                               Los Angeles area.
