Marybeth (Bell) McConnell ’93 was working full-time as an operating room nurse in 2012 when her life took
a drastic turn. Marybeth’s husband Bill – owner of Healthy Glass Tinting, a residential and commercial window
tinting business here in Rochester – was in a severe car accident that left him with broken bones and a severed
artery, which lead to strokes.
The couple continued to run the tinting business with
more involvement from Marybeth. In 2014, she took over.
“It was a challenge with his brain injury
and running the business and we Marybeth ‘93 with
both felt I needed to take over,” said husband, Bill and
Marybeth. So, she left nursing to run sons – Matthew, 4
and Micah, 2 – enjoy

company became nationally certifi ed

Bill has continued his recovery and is
still very much a part of the business.
The two recently fi nished their largest
job ever – installing 6,500 square feet
of graffi ti free fi lm at the Rochester
Train Station. In December, they
installed privacy fi lm at West Point.
Additionally, they work with many big
construction companies in Rochester
to install privacy fi lm, security fi lm
and more. They also install residential
and commercial awnings from the
southern tier to Cobble Creek.
While nursing was what Marybeth
planned to do career wise, she said “I
love being able to be with my husband
and install and run our business
together.”

Emily Doell ’16, current sophomore at Seton Hill University in Pittsburgh, was recently awarded
an academic scholarship from Upstate Golf Charities to attend college. In addition, she was
presented with a $2,500 gift to be given to the nonprofi t of her choice, which for Emily, was a
simple choice to make.
She presented the gift to Th e Notre Dame Learning Center – a sponsored ministry of the School
Sisters of Notre Dame that provides one-on-one tutoring to Rochester City School District
children in language arts, reading, math and technology. Emily spent many hours at the center
tutoring children in English when she, herself, was a student at Th e Aquinas Institute. We
commend Emily for her desire to make a diff erence in the community, especially in the lives of
children.
