riding (in a car).’ These forms are called gerunds or te-forms.
The use of gerunds is discussed in 3.10. You need not worry
about how they are formed until the next lesson. Just learn
them as they occur.
Below is a list of some verbs, and the copula, many of which
you have seen by now in this book. Examine the list, but no
need to memorize it.
