Greetings Sorors,
Happy Women’s History Month! Welcome to March, Women’s History Month is a
celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society and has been
observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. March 8,
2022, is International Women’s Day. Women’s History Month 2022 will take place
from Tuesday, March 1-Thursday, March 31, 2022. The 2022 theme is "Women
Providing Healing, Promoting Hope". This theme is both a tribute to the ceaseless
work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a
recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both
healing and hope throughout history.
I would like to ask each Lambda Omega chapter member to call or write a note to a chapter soror that is currently
a nurse or that was a nurse. May I also ask that you call or write a note to both our current sorors that are
caregivers and sorors that have been caregivers? We want to celebrate our sorors for the entire month of March
2022.
Our “Two in 2022” Secret Sorors for the month of March will reveal themselves at the Lambda Omega Chapter
meeting on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
Secret Soror #1 – She started skiing as a child, and wished she had the time to ski as an adult.
She wants to learn how to snowboard. Winter is not her favorite season; however, she
loves various activities and holidays during this season.
She enjoyed twirling the baton when she was younger until she was in a parade in a
beautiful sequin leotard, tights, and cowboy boots on the coldest day of winter.
She likes finding a comfy corner to sit in and read a good mystery novel.
Secret Soror #2 – She is a mother of three.
She turned down track and field scholarships at PWI’s to attend an HBCU.
She took an impromptu girls’ trip to another country for a week and no one in my party
spoke the language.
She has a favorite cuisine that is Italian and she actually took a day trip to Italy to eat!
Yours in Service and Sisterhood,
Soror April Raines, 2nd Anti-Basileus
