Naturally Ventilated LV Switchgear
Prism Power has undertaken an extensive engineering program and
became the first in the world to manufacture and achieve full independent
certification for a naturally ventilated 6300A 100kA LV Switchboard.
The program took a considerable amount of investment into the research,
development and testing of a new panel design that eliminated the need for
forced ventilation fans.
During rigorous testing in Berlin and Grenoble, the panel design was
proven to be capable of withstanding extreme temperature rise testing and
short circuit testing.
Prism Power’s self-ventilated switchboard system has been a major
technological advance in the switchgear manufacturing industry. It allows
switchgear systems of up to 6300A to be built and installed with great
efficiency and environmental savings.
The groundbreaking naturally ventilated technology is a vast improvement
on traditional systems that improves energy efficiency, reduces points of
failure and also cuts on-going maintenance costs.
The overall result of the avoidance of forced ventilation fans is lower
CapEx, lower OpEx, higher reliability, higher availability and a low-energy
‘green’ solution.

We were commissioned for the design and build of the mechanical and
electrical infrastructure for the first phase of this modular build data centre,
and the project was delivered on time and within budget.
Our engineers worked closely with the client from project conception,
design and project management, through to handover of the finished
system, providing a one-stop-shop.
By being involved in the design and delivery of the whole system, our
engineers were able to provide maximum peace of mind to the client by
ensuring that all technical considerations were reviewed and fully
coordinated.
The reliability and safety benefits derived from Prism Power’s low-energy
naturally ventilated switchboards, as well as the extensive cost savings and
efficiency enhancement associated with having no forced ventilation fans,
produced an exceptional switchgear product for the client that is totally
fit-for-purpose in this most critical of applications.
