Coleman, David, Ph.D. (Christianity)
Professor of Religious Studies at Chaminade University of Honolulu. He did his undergraduate
work at Chaminade University and UH Manōa in Philosophy. He completed his first Masters in
Asian Studies, working on translations of Dōgen, a 13th century Japanese Zen Master at UH,
followed by a Masters in Religious Education from the University of San Francisco. His Ph.D. is
in Political Science from the University of Hawaii Manōa, discussing the "Politics of the
Sacred," examining the experience that is Transcendence and the Sacred in Political and
Religious theory, with a focus on the evolution of the Christian and Buddhist peace traditions
within contemporary civil societies. His current research is on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition
and Social Teaching, and the Marianist educational tradition and charism.

Kelawala, Tehmasp (Zoroastrianism)
I and my wife both are from India and we emigrated to USA in 1996 after retiring from our
respective jobs in Mumbai. I worked as a Banker there and I put in 37 years of service. Besides
the Bank Service I was working as a Finance Broker too. We are here in Honolulu since 16 years
and we enjoy our stay in this Paradise on Earth. After coming to Hawaii, I noticed that by my
last name Kelawala was very much a Hawaiian name. I and my wife are staying with my elder
son and his family. My hobbies are Reading, Gardening, Cooking, Watching TV & listing to
music. I love Flowers and small babies a lot. Lastly, I am 84 years young.

Khan, Abdul-Karim, Ph.D (Islam)
Professor of History and Coordinator for Global Studies Certificate Program at the University of
Hawaii’s Leeward Community College in Pearl City. He is originally from northwestern
Pakistan where he received his early religious education in Islamic teachings. Pursuing secular
studies, he then taught History at the University of Peshawar a d got his PhD in South Asian
History at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and teaches courses in World History and Islamic
Civilization. Dr. Khan is also a member of the Muslim Association of Hawaii, and loves his one-
man television program, called Islam: A Guide to Human Excellence, which is broadcast twice a
