2018 ANNUAL REPORT
COMMUNITY IMPACT
Education
We engage and assist high school students in reaching
their maximum potential through our partnership with
College Bound. The participants engaged in the
following workshops:
* Building Your Brand
* Mental Health and Stress Management
* Preparing for College
* Finances and Money Management
* Volunteer work and Community Service
* Careers in STEM
We have pledged our donation of $1,000 annually to
help fund the College Bound scholarship honoring
Zaire Kelly, one of the promising College Bound
participants who was a victim of gun violence in 2018.
We hosted two Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCU) Tours in 2018.
We chaperoned 41 high school students on our 22nd
Annual HBCU college tour that visited ten schools.
We hosted a day trip for ten students on our third
annual middle school tourthat visited two HBCUs.
We awarded $20,200 in scholarships to high school
graduates from the District of Columbia Public Schools
who enrolled at HBCUs. We also awarded additional
scholarship funds to prior recipients who have continued
their matriculation at an HBCU.
General Scholarship: Awardees exhibit academic
excellence, leadership skills and community service
Presidential Scholarship: Awardees have a history of
leadership and volunteer service activities
Linda Latney Scholarship: Awardees have a history of
leadership and volunteer service activities
STEM Scholarship: Awardees demonstrate achievement
in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
