Throughout my life, I have always looked at change as an opportunity to try something new or

make something better. I believe that the same can be said about change in the classroom. Although I

have not yet been able to experience what it means to handle change in my particular program, I have

                                                                            th
had been able to experience changes in what we have done in the 7 grade language arts classroom. In

this paper I intend to cover how I would handle change in my program and what sort if processes I

would adopt to manage that change.

Mostly recently, Hagen Junior High has adopted the Charlotte Danielson Framework for

Teaching. The Framework for Teaching is a research-based set of components of instructions, alighted to

the INTASC standards and grounded in a constructivist view of learning and teaching. The complex

activity of teaching is divided into 22 components (and 76 smaller elements) clustered into four domains

of teaching responsibility. Those four domains include Planning and Preparation, The Classroom

               Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities

(https://www.danielsongroup.org/framework/). I have attached a copy of the Framework below. All the

teachers and staff at Hagen will be evaluated using the Framework for Teaching and instructed to

               implement into the classroom.

I have found the Framework for Teaching along with some other professional development

opportunities to be significantly helpful in handling change in my program, specifically in language arts.

With changes to a program, I think that there has to be some reevaluation of the curriculum and what is

being taught to meet the standards for that particular content area. Those changes take place in

planning and preparation, the classroom environment, instruction, and reflecting on teaching.

Sometimes things in the classroom don’t work, but with quality planning, instruction, and reflection,

there is an opportunity to discover a more effective way for students to learn.

Ultimately, I understand that change in my program will be inevitable, particularly in technology.

I plan to manage that change by staying up-to-date and informed on changes and what it is happening
