UNIT Mary’s compassion for animals began about two decades ago after her husband passed
2 away. Having no children and 1 that she had too much free time, Mary began work as a

housemaid. That was when she began to take 2 strays. “I started with the aged and sick dogs

that nobody 3 wanted. After several years, the numbers began to grow after friends and
acquaintances started 4 strays to me,” said Mary.

“When a friend comes by with an abandoned and tortured dog or a motherless puppy,”

added Mary, “there’s much to do 5 buying milk powder and vitamins. The sick dogs need all
the care and love I can give, even 6 only for a few days. Some looked so hungry like they had

not been fed for years, and others were in 7 bad shape that if left to themselves, they would
                die a painful death.”

I 8 hope that more people will show mercy and compassion 9 the animals. Do not

ill-treat or abandon them. Give them to your friends or bring them to me. They 10 a proper
