This month we will discuss the ESA Foundation’s Turn-Around Fund
and the Co-Sponsorship program. While these two items are
vastly different than scholarships and grants, they are important functions of the
ESA Foundation.
Many groups, as well as individuals, take advantage of the Turnaround Funds but
it is important to remember, the checks come back to you, or whomever utilizes
the fund and then that person is to present the check or mail to the charitable
organization. This gives you a great opportunity to make a personal visit to hand
the check over and they know who to give credit to or you can always mail it to
them.
Every year we have checks that don’t clear the bank because someone doesn’t
make the donation happen. Please keep in mind, this is a very important step in
the process – send the check to the organization.
ESA Foundation’s Turn-around Fund
Hello here are few guidelines and helpful hints about how the Turn-around funds
can utilized.
As you know, our members support many different organizations in addition to the ESA
Foundation. Many years ago, the ESA Foundation Board of Directors came up with a way
members could support both the ESA Foundation and other charitable organizations at the same
time!
The solution was the “Turnaround Fund” (TAF) which, in its simplest form, means that someone or
an entity wants to donate to XYZ Charity. That person or entity writes a check to the ESA
Foundation (our own charitable organization) and we deposit the check. We then “turnaround”
and write a check to the other designated charity of choice in the exact same amount. ESA
Foundation and its members are credited with the donation and the funds end up in the
organization for which they were intended in the first place! A Win-Win for everyone!
