Rock star of the Month

The motto of Beta Iota chapter is “Be Extraordinary” and that is exactly what
they’ve been up to, welcoming six new members in the month of March.

In late January, the chapter hosted a fun social
for their community and the chapter that they
called “Mom Prom”. Beta Iota member and
Oklahoma State Membership Director June Miller
explains, “Mom Prom was a girls’ night out
fundraiser (no men allowed) where members
and guests were invited to dress up, eat, dance,
enjoy a few drinks and a great time.

The whole
idea was that Christmas is over and all the moms are
exhausted from all holiday activities…The moms need a
break to just have fun. The night wasn’t limited to moms,
rather open to women age 21 and up. We had a cash bar
and a DJ with some fancy hors d’oeuvres and charged $25
per person. Everyone dressed up and we had so much fun

doing line dances like the
stroll, Macarena, and bump.
Many of them asked that
very night, ‘How do we join
your ESA chapter?’ and
when we had a follow-up
Recruitment Tea in March, six
of them attended and joined
on the spot, and there may
be more soon. We’re very
excited about our wonderful
new members.”
