it was dense with people, merchants and goods. People dressed
in colorful Qi Pao dresses. I never saw these beautiful colors of
dresses and extraordinary patterns in the royal palace, because
most noblemen and clerks dressed in plain uniforms which were
quite boring. No fashion in the palace, because there were only
royals who dressed in the best dresses. Then, I sensed the fresh
smell of food, but then something else caught my eye....
It was a very detailed fabric placed on a table with foreign
and Chinese customers gathering around. It was silk, in many
colors, purple, red, yellow and white. The colors seemed not to
cause any difference, but it actually affected the price a lot. Purple
silk or what I’m wearing was the most expensive, it is the symbol of
royalty. No one could afford it accept for the royals. The red one
was next and others were cheaper still. This made it easy to judge
the status of people in China by their clothing. There is also jade,
