silver and iron in the market. I bought a jade bracelet and 2 red and
3 white silk dresses, so it shows my memories at Chang’an and
help me to disguise myself as a normal person. I travelled to
another city beside called ‘ Lan Jo’ which was the center of trading
in that period, the smoke from worshipping at the mosques and
smoke from food cooking, caused me to sneeze a lot. The market
was very crowded with people. I found more silk here which was
way cheaper, maybe because it was the center of trading. This
gave me an idea of buying these chinese goods and selling them
on at a higher price through my journey. I also bought gun powder
incase... So, I bought a lot of silk 3 reds, 2 yellows and 5 whites.
So altogether I had 5 red silk, 2 yellow silk and 8 white silk pieces
of fabric. I packed the goods in my backpack and stopped to have
lunch. I had lunch at a small restaurant in the market. It sold Dim
Sum a traditional Chinese snack which was served in small portions
in a round steam basket. The smell of steamed dumplings and
buns lifted my spirit, it was very delicious, warm, juicy and soft.
It was very simple and boosted both my spirits and my energy.
