First Love

“Aww look at John with his new girl, he changes his girlfriend like he

changes his clothes!”, Elita sneered. Looking at John and his new girlfriend

made Elita recall back to her days when she was dating him.

Elita was always that one girl who sat in the corner of the classroom and

had no presence. Many people made fun of her hideous appearance, and
she was constantly mocked for it. Elita's step father abandoned her

because her mother was so controlling and unbearable. He was the only

person she liked in her life. Elita had always regarded his stepfather as a

father figure after her father had abandoned her for the same reason. She
persuaded her stepfather to take her with him on the day he was leaving,

because she couldn't stand her abusive mother.

Elita grew up in an abusive household, and ballet provided her with an
outlet. Even though she was forced to do it, dancing ballet made her feel

like a swan spreading its wings which felt like freedom. Her mother forced

her to dance ballet when she was three years old, and she has been
competing ever since. As she grew older, she gradually realized that all her

mother wanted was for her to become famous so that she could benefit

      from it.

During Elita's competition day, she noticed John in the crowd. He admired

her for her graceful movements. After the competition, John approached
her, complimented her on her beauty, and invited her to join him for a

drink. "T-t-thank you..., no one has ever said that to me before," Elita

replied nervously. They introduced each other and she agreed to meet him

the next day at the same fast-food restaurant down the street. She was
astounded that someone would describe her as beautiful, which made her

feel overjoyed. Elita’s mother spotted her and dragged her home furiously

before Elita could say anything else, wrathfully beating her. She also

informed Elita that boys would only serve to distract her from winning her
      competitions.
