Introduction
• Many decorative ornaments can be made with seashells – a simple one – heart-shaped
hanging ornament
• Items needed – heavy cardboard, strong glue, coloured beads and seashells

Body
• Cut cardboard into shape of a heart – punch a hole at the top of cardboard – use a
brush and spread glue all over cardboard
• Glue on seashells one by one – arrange carefully – minimal gaps in between seashells
– avoid the punched hole on the cardboard
• Use coloured beads or sand to fill gaps – allow to dry – repeat process on other side
of cardboard

Conclusion
• Once ornament is completely dry – slip a ribbon through hole – hang in a suitable
place

Model Answer

There are many decorative ornaments that can be made with seashells. A simple
one would be a heart-shaped hanging ornament. The items you will need are heavy
cardboard, strong glue, coloured beads and of course your collection of seashells.
First, cut the cardboard into the shape of a heart. Then, punch a hole at the top
of the cardboard. Next, use a brush and spread glue all over the cardboard. Allow the
cardboard to dry completely.
Next, glue on your seashells one by one on the cardboard. Arrange them carefully
to ensure that there are minimal gaps in between the seashells. Take care not to cover
the punched hole on the cardboard. Once you have covered the entire cardboard with
seashells, use the coloured beads to fill in the gaps in between the seashells so that the
cardboard is completely covered. You may also use sand to give it a more natural look.
Allow your ornament to dry for at least a day. You may choose to repeat the process
on the other side of the cardboard.
Once the ornament is completely dry, slip a ribbon through the hole and hang it
on a suitable place.
