compared to 75% of non-B40 students. A small percentage of students (9% of B40 and 2% of
non-B40) reported receiving less support from their families during ODL.
Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the majority of pre-diploma students
from both income groups received enough support from their lecturers and families. However,
their problems with ODL, particularly for students in the B40 group, were largely caused by a
lack of internet data and a poor internet connection. Therefore, universities and the government
must step in and act to provide students with ultrafast and affordable broadband services in
order to ensure that, despite the pandemic, every student, regardless of background, can receive
quality online education.
