Sabre Dance Conducting

In our unit on ‘Beat in Two’,
our younger pupils have
been observing the well-
known conductor Simon
Rattle conduct the ‘Sabre
Dance’, composed by the
famous composer Aram
Khachaturian. We have then
been trying out our own conduct-
ing skills. In addition to practising
how to conduct a simple ‘Beat in
Two’, we have also explored how
we can use our gestures and fa-
cial expressions to communicate
simple instructions such as ‘soft’
and ‘loud’, ‘heavenly’ and ‘trium-
phant’.
