S H A W N T A N Y O O N G S E R N

Shawn Tan Yoong Sern is a second-ye ar undergraduate
law student in Brickfields Asia College. Having a
profound interest in discrimination l aw and l anguages, he
found himself delving into the realm of international
human rights law and its workings in ordinary life. In
addition to that, he has gained an interest in international
affairs and relations from previous Model United Nations
(MUN) experiences.

His passion and interests are further solidified in many
leadership experiences he has undertaken, such as

engaging directly with Amnesty International M alays ia as
part of the Youth Committee and co-founding the Council
on International Law and Diplomacy (CILD). His positive
attitude to encourage colleagues to succeed in their
personal goals alongside his accomplishments from
several MUNs and an award-winning law revi ew that he
takes pride of serve as one of many attestations of his
skills in research, leadership and diplomacy.

Besides, he also enjoys designing concise and
informative graphics for the audience, and had attained
excellent engagements and interactions in Facebook and
Instagram during his tenure under Manushya Foundation,
the Asian Law Students' Association BAC and CILD. In his
free time, he is a linguaphile who enjoys learning and
understanding languages!
