                                                           Abstract

                              This research is documentary  research with 3 proposes, first is to study
                       biography and literary works of Rabindranath Tagore. Second is to study the influence
                       of Buddhism on Rabindranath Tagore’s works, and the last propose is to study Buddhist
                       philosophy which is appeared in Rabindranath Tagore’s literary works. Studying from
                       primary  sources which is Rabindranath  Tagore’s literary works translated  to Thai

                       language and also studies Buddhist philosophy from Tipitaka along with secondary
                       sources which are books, documents, and related researches. Then analyzes all data
                       and presents the results in form of descriptive.

                              The results reveal that:
                              1) Rabindranath Tagore was born in 1861 at Bengal, India. His family was in the
                       rank of Brahmin and wealthy family. In his childhood, he studied a variety of sciences
                       from his father, Debendranath Tagore. His father was well known as “great hermit”

                       because he is interested in sciences and meditation. Rabindranath Tagore at age of 13
                       started writing the poems. When he grown up, he was prominently interested on
                       religious philosophy and education. He was a researcher and a practitioner as he
                       welcomed to be vegetarian. His works are 20 poetries, 25 dramas. 25 short stories, 11

                       novels, 13 articles, many text books, more than 4,000 hand-writing letters, more than
                       2,000 songs, and painting work more than 2,000 pieces. Rabindranath Tagore won the
                       Noble Prize in literature in 1913 for his collection, “Gitanjali”. He was respected as a
                       poet laureate of Asia. He established Santiniketan school, Visva Bharati university and

                       Sriniketan college where is the assembly place of Western and Eastern cultures, giving
                       opportunity to these two cultures to learn and exchange their cultures, their opinions
                       under the atmosphere of friendship until the present.
