5.4 Design of devices

Neutron tomography image is obtained from neutron
radiography device. However, tomography scanning
required the object to be rotated using rotating stage.
The illustration of neutron tomography system with a
minimum device is given in Figure 5.7.

The object is rotated during acquiring a projection
data. Single projection is obtained from a radiograph
recorded at a specific rotation angle. Projection data
of rotated object required to reconstruct a tomography
image is at least collected from 181 degree. This is
actually the total number of 181 radiographs collected.
In this case, the object is rotated at 1◦ per step. Much
smaller step angle gives more better resolution, how-
