ever scanning time will be much longer. Usually, 181
degree total rotation angle with 1◦ for each step is suf-
ficient. If scanning step angle is 0.5◦ or less, the pro-
jections will be large.
Since the projections are collected from radiogra-
phy configuration setting, the reconstruction of projec-
tion gives the computed tomography image will give
the cross sectional view of object. Therefore, com-
puted tomography image is the cross sectional view of
a slice object. Two dimensional computed tomography
image or tomogram of slices object is directly related
with the distribution of attenuation coefficient of object.
It is depicted in Figure 5.8.
Tomogram is obtained from backprojected of all pro-
jection images 1. Attenuation coefficient in neutron to-
mography has some proportionality with the neutron
cross-section of object at particular position.
5.5 Applications
Neutron radiography and neutron tomography have many
applications; this section provide some insight about
industrial, agriculture, mining, and cultural heritage as-
pect that this imaging technique can be applied.

Theoretical aspect of backprojection process is not discussed in this book.
