TESTIMONIALS
Bi-National Socioeconomic Handbook 2020
Living at the border is speaking and thinking in two languages, it is about having the chance of being in another
country in just a couple of minutes, of sharing food, culture and traditions, but without a doubt, it goes beyond all
of this.
The Two Laredos have joint challenges and opportunities. The united efforts of the governments and commercial
community in both sides of the river, have allowed this region to become the epicenter of transportation, customs
and logistics at the border of Mexico and United States. All of this effort is exemplified in the numbers of the Gross
Domestic Product (PIB) which combined results in a rough estimate of more than $254,000 thousand million
pesos.
I congratulate the Institute for Competitiveness and Foreign Trade of Nuevo Laredo for the initiative of preparing
this handbook, which has continued along these last years and which has served as a guide for visitors and persons
who live in this dynamic region. Congratulations!
Kathryn Flachsbart
General Consul of United States in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps.
This Binational Handbook illustrates the potential of the region of the Two Laredos as a Logistics Platform of North
America, is a reference tool that shows the user the opportunities of the largest land trading port of the American
Continent, through which it crosses around 1,800 railcars and more than 14 thousand trailers a day, carrying more
than 40% of the trade between Mexico and United States of America, which positions the region as one of the most
important worldwide regions on a commercial level.
The Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo, Tx., is committed to promote shared prosperity between the Two
Laredos, for this it is implemented daily a thorough cross-border diplomacy which is reflected in the standards of
living of Laredoans from Laredo, Tx and Nuevo Laredo, who live in these two sister cities, which are an example of
cooperation in North America.
Juan Carlos Mendoza Sanchez
Consul General of Mexico in Laredo, Tx.
