Book review of Vayalar Award winning novel
“Ushnarasi-Karappurathinte Ithihasam” written
by Shri. K. V. Mohan Kumar IAS was done
on March 19, 2019. Prof. Sabu Kottakkal,
Associate Professor University College
presented the book. The book is set around
Punnappra-Vayalar struggle. Ushnarasi is
a work in which the important aspects of the
past, present and future combine seamlessly.

Academy Advisory Board Member presented
the review that was written by him in Kerala
Kaumudi. Dr. Ajayapuram Jyotish Kumar,
Head of Dept. (Malayalam), M. G. College,
Thiruvananthapuram and Dr. Mohammed
Kabir (DIET, kollam) also discussed the book
in detail. The author said that the Vakkom
Moulavi Foundation Trust built in memory of
Vakkom Moulavi is the right place to discuss
his book which depicted about the suppression,
and struggle faced by women and backward
classes in the society.
