Help for Heroes
They support Service Personnel and Veterans who were injured or became ill during service, or
due to their service, and their loved ones.
Those eligible for our support include:
Service Personnel, Veterans, and those who have served alongside our Armed Forces, who were
injured or became ill during service, or have an injury or illness due to their service. This includes
regulars, reserves, recruits, under 18s, and those medically downgraded but currently in military
employment, in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force. It also includes civilians
who support the military on deployment and work under the direction of the commander within the
Armed Forces in an area of conflict or war, for example, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, NAAFI, embedded
journalists, photographs, and local translators. Their families and carers.
What can I apply for?
Their Quick Reaction Fund (QRF) can help by giving swift financial support to alleviate the
distress caused by injury or support you on your Road to Recovery. They may provide a grant for:
Housing adaptations to accommodate injury
Sports and therapeutic equipment and activities
White and brown goods
Vocational and employment opportunities
Support with priority debts
And much more.
How will I receive the funds?
The QRF is delivered directly by them, or administered for them through the Services' own
charities and aims to provide support within 72 hours in the most urgent cases.

To apply for a support grant, get in touch with their friendly team on:

Mental Health and Wellbeing
If you are struggling with your mental health, their Psychological Wellbeing team is there to listen
and help. Some of the free and confidential services they offer include:
Hidden Wounds Psychological Wellbeing service for Veterans and family members, nationally
accessible by phone, Skype or face to face
Members of their Psychological Wellbeing Team is on site at all of their Recovery Centres.
Psycho-educational courses for Veterans and families.
Mental health support on Help for Heroes activities and events
Collaboration
They work closely with, and in some cases fund, mental health services provided by organisations
such as Combat Stress and the NHS, so if they can’t support you directly they help you access
the support that’s right for you.
How can I access the Support Hub?
To access welfare support as a day visitor, or to stay at one of our Recovery Centres for in-depth
welfare support (for between 1 and 3 weeks), contact the Support Hub at your nearest Recovery
Centre.
