Battalion Boxing Night
The Battalion had a brilliant boxing night on Thursday 11th July 2019 which was a great effort considering the amount
of commitments they are having to fulfil at present and over the next 12 months. The boxing was started earlier in the
year by a few pipers and drummers that wanted to get fit. A chance meeting at an event in London with the Celtic
Warrior, Steve Collins, former world champion who was asked if he could help train them, which he jumped at (as he
is an Honorary Mick). This made a big difference with more Micks and attached personnel stepping up to do boxing
training which allowed the event of 9 bouts with 4 members from other units to make up the weights to take place. A
few of the Micks weren’t allowed to box as they were far too of a higher standard for what was a novice event. It was
both a great evening and with some great fights.
The Micks win the Lawson Cup again and Major Paul Fagan never even broke sweat.
Great effort by all in the Battalion, the Mick legacy Lives on.
