However, information about folk music that is played and sung in daily life
has not yet been found in these texts. In the Hittites, the musicians had to
work intensively to learn the ritual and ceremonial music together with
all the details of the practices, without any mistake. The King paid a great
attention to this issue, for this reason, the musicians were carefully
selected among the talented people.
The Hittite civilization, which describes the musical civilization in
Anatolia in the best way with tablets, also covers the Hatti and Hurri
civilizations. This civilization also interacted with Mesopotamian music
cults such as Sumer, Akkad and Babylon, which existed before it. These
civilizations highly valued music. In the Hittites, music and the artist
groups performing it along with ensembles took part in all kinds of
religious ceremony and royal protocol’s events. Some of these traditions
are still continue in Turkey together with other Middle Eastern and Asian
countries.
