4.3 Use of the IP Router as Line and Backbone Coupler
The IP router can be used as a rapid backbone to link lines and areas together. When
assigning the physical address, it should be ensured that the router and the other
couplers in the installation have correct addresses in terms of the topology.
Address assignment:
An IP router can be used in principle as a line coupler or as a backbone coupler. The
physical address has the format x.y.0, with x=1...15, y=1...15.
