                            NEEDS ANALYSIS OF TEACHING MATERIALS’ DEVELOPMENT
                              BASED ON HEUTATOGY IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION COURSE

                                                            Abstract

                        This study aims to determine a needs analysis of the teaching materials’ development
                        based on heutagogy in Islamic Education courses to develop self-determined learning
                        among students. It is conducted by using a survey method at Politeknik Negeri Padang.
                        Samples are 250 students that selected randomly from students who enrolled Islamic
                        Education Course. Data obtained from distributing a set of questionnaires about the
                        needs of appropriate teaching materials for teaching materials. The data are analyzed
                        descriptively (mean score and standard deviation) using software SPSS 23. The results
                        of the needs analysis shows that absence of interactive learning videos as additional
                        learning media of the existed textbook and can develop self-determined learning are
                        the obtacles in the learning process. The results of the needs analysis also show that
                        1) the teaching materials request by students are video interactive, 2) the topics in the
                        learning videos contain: learning motivation, aqidah, akhlak, practice of Islamic law
                        (wudhu, solat, zakat, puasa) and the history of Islamic culture. This study is part of a
                        preliminary study on the development of the Islamic Education website.
