                        The Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM) through STANDARDS MALAYSIA is
                        a full membership for International Organization for Standardization (ISO).




                 1.3.2  What is an ISO certificate?


                        An ISO 9001 certificate demonstrates a company’s compliance to the ISO 9001, a
                        set of guidelines developed by the International Organization for Standardization for

                        Quality Management Systems.

                        Information normally included on ISO certificates includes:

                              company name
                              company address
                              certification standard with version e.g. ISO 9001:2008

                              scope of certification
                              certificate validity, usually lasting three years

                              certification body logo
                              accreditation body logo (not obligatory)
                        The current ISO 9001:2015 is a fifth revision of ISO 9001, replacing the canceled ISO
                        9001:2000, ISO 9001:1994, ISO 9002:1994, and ISO 9003:1994, none of which are

                        valid any longer. ISO 9001:2008 is under transition period until August 2018.



                        1.3.3  ISO 9001 Requirements



                        ISO 9001: 2008 is the standard’s fourth revision and replaces ISO 9001:2000. The

                        revision year follows the ISO standard code.
                        ISO 9001 standard was developed based on eight quality management principles to

                        ensure company product or services consistently meet customer and applicable
                        regulatory requirements continually improve to enhance customer satisfaction.

                        Standards Malaysia has adopted the ISO 9001:2008 standard, published as MS ISO
                        9001:2008 in 2009. You can get this standard for the price of RM50.

                        ISO 9001:2008 standard clauses can be briefly explain as




                              4.0 Quality Management System: general requirements, documentation
                        requirements, quality manual, control of documents and records.

                              5.0 Management Responsibility: policy, objectives, planning, customer focus,
                        QMS, management review.

                              6.0 Resource Management: human resources, facilities, work environment.
