8003.1 Employee Development Meeting – First Meeting

               Discuss ground rules for working relationship:
                     What you can expect from me:  Keeping commitments, keeping employee informed of
                       things affecting your job, will give feedback on performance

                     What I expect from you:  Keeping commitments, keep your boss informed of the status
                       of your work or things that affect your work, ask for help when needed.
                     What you need from me:  What does the employee need from the manager?
               Provide overview of employee development meetings:
                     PURPOSE:  To promote employee’s professional growth by working together to
                       overcome obstacles in the way.  The meetings will provide a place to be vulnerable, to
                       take risks, and to learn so that employees can be their best and achieve results they can
                       be proud of.
                     LOGISTICS:
                          o  Participants:  Manager and the individual employee
                          o  Frequency:  Weekly
                          o  Duration:  1 hour
                          o  Location:  Manager’s office, training room, or unused exam room
                     CONTENT:  Performance coaching, work issues, professional development issues,
                       interpersonal issues, administrative issues
