Secretary's report
on my school report) ‘you could do better’ so the Swing Keel Trophy, the John
Manley and website awards will be held back and judged over two years. The
Southerly Cup, which was won by ‘Whimbrel’ at last years Rendezvous, will
continue to grace Ali and Nick’s coffee table for another year.
Future Events: The Chairman thanked Mary and Peter for their many years as
Rally Coordinators. At this point the members present broke into a spontaneous
round of applause. He was pleased to see Mary and Peter at the AGM and that
Peter had only lost his way once, on the journey from Lymington (his navigation
must be improving!). The Chairman hoped that they will keep in touch and that
Peter remembers where he last left his boat (somewhere in Europe!).
The Chairman welcomed Mike as our new Events Coordinator and thanked him for
taking on the role. Mike outlined the programme for the coming season and made
th
th
particular reference to Studland/Poole, 28 -30 August – organised by Derrick,
th
and the Laying Up Supper on 14 November. Dates for the diary.
The meeting closed at 1225 and was followed by a talk from our guest speaker on
‘A Sailors Guide to Coping with the Unexpected.’
We can now stop imagining what the AGM would have been like. The
committee has decided that there is little chance of holding an AGM this
th
year so has rebooked the same venue for 27 March 2021.
As I write this, the sun is shining and there is a gentle SW breeze. I would
normally wish you all the best for the coming season, but we live in
strange and worrying times. No one is sure when and how we will be able
to resume our normal life. Please look after yourselves.
