Since the late 1960s, alternative policies have begun to develop in the face of ecological problems that have started
to be felt worldwide. The period has been formed by such policies that have been rapidly growing in its own socio-
political environment and with the thought of many administrations. Such management initiatives have differentiated
according to some basic qualities in the process. Within these management initiatives, categorized as environmental
protectionism and ecological thinking, Social Ecology and Sustainable Development are different.
The concept of social ecology that lies within the context of ecology has a radical structure in administrative parspact.
Unlike other forms of management, it is both a causal researcher and a radical solution seeker for environmental
problems. On the other hand, sustainable development is more prominent with an environmental protection approach.
This management thought is on the way to the policy of reduction of environmental problems through the cooperation
of the existing administrative system. It focuses on environmental goals by examining environmental problems not
only through society but also through physical causes. In fact, this understanding of management can be described as
a reformist understanding, contrary to the idea of ecological management.
In the course of the study, it is suggested that the emergence of urban management ideas should not be differentiated
in the process of defining and resolving environmental problems. Especially social ecology and sustainable development
should be examined in terms of management thought. Suggestions on how local governments should determine
policies against environmental problems, It will be made.
