For an adrenaline rush with a
view, climbing the imposing cliffs
and rocks of the Greek Islands
is hard to beat. Head to rugged
Kálymnos (p192) for a range
of rock faces; the craggy west
shoreline provides the perfect
challenge for any climber.
▷ Catch the Breeze
The offshore breezes in this part
of the world are famously strong,
creating fantastic conditions for
windsurfing and kiteboarding.
The undisputed Greek kite­
boarding capital is Poúnda on
Páros (p234), but other islands
(with both suitable winds and
equipment rental) include
Koureménos on Crete (p279),
Kamári on Kos (p189) and
Vailikí on Lefkáda (p81).

It’s a weird and wonderful world
under the water, with plenty of
curious creatures and corals to
seek out. Take a diving tour to
explore more; recommended
