In winter eiders gather where food is
plentiful, such as areas with strong
currents or fishing harbours. Humans
and eiders are often attracted to the
same places. Here a male (foreground)
and a female eider paddle in front
of boathouses in Straumen, Nord-
Trøndelag, Norway. Every morning at
least one fishing boat leaves here.
