Exploring Gelderland

Gelderland is made up of three distinct regions. In the north
is the Veluwe, an extensive natural area of woodland, heaths
and large tracts of drifting sand, where those looking for
peaceful natural surroundings can find exactly that. To the
east is the Achterhoek. This region, too, is rich in natural
beauty but has a completely different character: it consists
of small fields with wooden fences, old farms, stately homes
and castles. In the southwest of the province, between the
Rhine, the Maas and the Waal rivers, is the river-valley region The Dolphinarium in Harderwijk HATTEM
of the Betuwe. This area is distinguished by its many small
dykes and river banks, which offer ample opportunities for ELBURG Wezep
cycling and walking.
