0 Kröller-Müller Museum
This museum owes its existence above all to one
person: Helene Kröller-Müller (1869–1939). In 1908,
with the support of her industrialist husband Anton
Kröller, Helene Kröller-Müller started to collect
modern art. In 1935, she donated her entire
collection to the state, and a special museum was
built to house it. As well as its large collection of
modern art, which includes 278 works by Vincent
van Gogh, the museum is renowned for its unique
sculpture garden, the Beeldentuin.

Jardin d’Email by Jean Dubuffet is
one of the most distinctive
sculptures in the 25-ha (62-acre)
sculpture garden. The garden
provides a natural backdrop for
works by sculptors such as
Auguste Rodin, Henry
Moore, Barbara Hepworth
and Richard Serra.
Mondriaan Entrance to the
In addition to old Flemish masters, the Kröller-Müller Beeldentuin
also has a major collection of 19th- and 20th-century
French paintings and a dozen abstract paintings by
Piet Mondriaan.

Jachthuis St Hubertus
This hunting lodge, built from
1914 to 1920 by the architect HP
Berlage, was commissioned by
the Kröller-Müller family.
The Studio Boat
Claude Monet’s 1874 painting is
in the 19th- and 20th-century
French collection.
