Parrot

                                flash of bright color through the leaves of a rain forest

                                tree may be a parrot. You’ll know for sure when you hear
                         its screeching calls. These birds fly around in noisy flocks, searching

                         for ripe fruits to eat. Largest and noisiest of all are the macaws.
                         A massive beak allows macaws to crack the toughest nuts, but

                         also to gently peel fruits.

                         Macaws are among the world’s smartest birds. Some even learn to

                         copy human words! In a traditional myth of the Maya people of
                         Mexico and Central America, there is a proud macaw god named

                         Vucub-Caquix. The macaw tried to rule the world, until he was
                         defeated by two heroic brothers.



































                                     Macaws eat mud! No one is sure why,

                                         but it might be a source of salt.
