A      frican wild dogs belong to packs that do everything together.



                                          The dogs give one another friendly licks, and stay in touch

                                         using whistles and yaps. They decide to go hunting by
                                                sneezing! When enough dogs sneeze, the pack sets off.

                                                      Up to thirty dogs work as a team to hunt antelopes
                                                            and other big animals. The dogs race after

                                                                 their prey, kicking up clouds of dust. To
                                                                   stop the prey from getting away, they

                                                                   split up, blocking every escape.

                                                               Only the pack’s top female has babies.

                                                           She can have as many as 12 pups in a litter.
                                                   The whole pack guards them and tears up meat for

                                                 the pups to eat.



                                                 Another name for the wild dog is “painted

                                                      wolf” because of its patterned fur.
