              Friedrich III commissioned the elaborate
               altarpiece in 1447. Painted panels open
                out to reveal an earlier carved interior
                showing scenes from the lives of the
                  Virgin Mary and Christ. This panel
              portrays the Adoration of the Magi (1420).
