The Voodon were particularly interested in Trok and some of the Bio-Mechanoids. One of the
Voodon engineers; a female by the name of Ju’ster took a keen interest in his physical form. She had
only ever been asked to make female bodies for her mechanoids; seeing a specimen of a masculine
form set her mind in motion as to the possibilities. When Hubris introduced Michael wearing the
Exo-suit; the looks of astonishment and the gasps almost took them both by surprise. Ju’ster
explained that the Vood had never seen complete Krall units as the Krall deliberately destroyed all if
their installations in Vood space to avoid them being taken by Gantrax.
“We only ever found tiny fragments and pulverised materials that were impossible to put together.
We would greatly appreciate seeing any data you have on these wonders. We Vood are not that
muscular hence our reliance on artificial forms to do our manual tasks. If the designs could be
adapted our race could regain some of our strength and mobility” She said pointing to the bands and
foot plates that they all wore. They were a means of the Voodon to combat the gravity of their own
world and others. Long use of genetic manipulation had left them with weak; almost atrophied
muscles and skeletons. Attempts to reverse the problem had all been only partially successful. That
was why they relied on the Kryst for the oil that they produced. Two components of it worked to
increase fertility and another compound maintained the Voodon immune systems. In exchange the
Kryst had found that an enzyme in the Vood bile had beneficial effects for them also. Knowing now
that the reliance had been “programmed” in by the Curators the two races worked together to find
out what the Curators had done to other races in the Galaxy. That was one
of the functions of the Clinic. The Gantrax contained no trace of the Matrix
Code; and that made them of interest. But the Gantrax always went mad
when they were cut off from the Hive Mind and their Queen.
“It’s exasperating; really frustrating that we found a way of capturing them
alive, but only to lose them to base animal nature when placed into the
study program. The safest way is to put them in stasis. It makes examining
them extremely difficult” one of the Vood biologists said to Hubris.
“I sympathise with you and your frustration. My people had a similar
problem in studying a species related to us; but much more primitive. They
have such a tight social bond, separating individuals or groups resulted in mass suicide. If we could
find out why the Curators didn’t attempt to “index” the Gantrax, we might be a step closer to
understanding why they bothered to with many other races. It must have been for a reason that
benefitted them in some way that we; as yet, cannot divine” Hubris reciprocated adding “But it has
been so long since they were here it’s virtually impossible to trace their route or possible
destination”
When the escort ship arrived from Kryst the crew of the Veklaar were surprised to be
greeted with a familiar face. Alongside the Kryst crew stood the familiar form of a Shardvolk; it was
Vidal. His presence was eventually explained when Krysta and T’luha had a chance to talk with him.
A stray Kryst probe had landed on Rega sometime after the Veklaar
had left. It had been tracking a signal coming from one of the disks
in a Cylinder that was barely perceptible by standard sensors. Not
long after that Vidal and his brother were twiddling with some of
the probes circuits when a beacon was activated. By the time they
had managed to stop the signal being broadcast. A Kryst ship soon
arrived in the system. These Kryst had been searching for any trace
of a missing mission team.
“I remembered that you and your crew were headed for She’brakda and explained. During the
conversation I got the impression that the “mission” was somewhat dubious in nature. On finding
what my race were capable of doing they duly hired me to help find you. So; here I am. These Kryst
