now is a Syndicate Turf war. You remember what happened the last time in ’99 don’t you
Krank?” he said looking deeply into his mug.

“Only too well; it sparked an internal bout of in-fighting in the Force. Whole divisions were
involved in some cases. We had six high ranking Officers turn sides and shoot some of their
own men, because of family ties to the Syndicates. I hope we can get a lid on this before it
all blows up in our faces” Krank responded, then turning to Dreck continued “Your Father
was on the frontline in Vertigo District when two of his own men, both with family ties to
two warring Syndicates, set upon each other with knives. He stepped in to intervene and got
his lung punctured. The two fighters were then shot by the Commanding Officer of a Black
Guard squad that were there to assist in the taking of the Warehouses at the Vishtaan
Wharf. Messy day for all of us that. The Battelle Syndicate had managed to smuggle a half
ton of Trinite Explosives into the buildings. I was just a Junior Inspector then; I lost a lot of
good friends when they detonated the stuff. That’s why that area is nicknamed “The Fallen
Comrades Yards”” He finished saying and waited for Dreck to say something.

“That explains the whole “Silent Car” routine when Patrols go by the area. I didn’t realise
that was where that happened till now. I had thought it was over Bedlam Bronx! I’m sorry
now that I teased my “watcher” when I was undergoing my Rookie Training when he’d go
silent even when we were responding to a shout there.” Dreck said quietly. “Why didn’t he
just tell me?” he added. Lomax interrupted

“Many of those involved were traumatised by the events. They found it difficult to speak
about what they experienced. I think your “watcher” was trying to protect you from the
worst of it, and by keeping it from you he was helping himself to cope. I lost three family
members that day; I still get the odd nightmare!” Lomax revealed “Now; back to current
affairs. I’ve asked Central records to send over the files on The Vasilly Triplets. I also had
customs tighten border controls just in case they head across borders” He continued. He’d
just finished speaking when their Chronometers buzzed to let them know that HQ wanted
them there as quickly as possible. They finished their drinks and paid their bill. Lomax and
Dreck headed for their car, Krank for his. They all turned on their lights and sirens and sped
back to Force HQ…

After his meeting with Glass; Telford was driven back to their office building by
Gaston and Herne. They let him out of the Limousine and he shakily entered the front door.
His guts were so tightly knotted he was having difficulty in keeping the Brandy down. He
headed for a pot plant in the corner and wretched, Shirley gurned her face. Wiping his
mouth on his handkerchief he asked Shirley for a glass of water and headed into Splitt’s
room. She followed him in, handed him the water, and hurriedly left closing the door behind
her. Splitt was about to speak but Hagron signed him to shut up and listen.

“The Kinray Group has “merged” The Battelle Syndicate into their business portfolio. I’ve
just had that Glass… man; NO! Creature, give me the lowdown on how the “hostile
takeover” panned out in every gory detail. He seemed to take great delight in doing so. In
short we now have them as major clients. The Force will not let this go unnoticed. We’d
better make plans to move business to one of our Unity holdings and quickly, but as
surreptitiously as possible” Hagron gulped the water trying to calm his shredded nerves.
“That Man is pure evil. Wait till you find out what his goons did to Luis. We must arouse no
