set up a link?”

“No I think I’ll go down and meet in person. The Chief need’s a spokesman. Krank’s the
senior; but he’s going to have his hands full so I might as well take the job. I’ll need a driver I
want Dreck to help out here, no need to lose any more juniors today. Who’s free?” Lomax
responded

“Lucy Hurden and Jason Mugabe are the only two with protection detail qualifications; if
that’s what you mean?” said Mark

“I’ll take Lucy, she’s not so well known down there might put whoever’s behind this on an
unsteady footing. What’s her marksmanship figure?” he asked

“She’s got a 120 point average. Good choice and she has bomb work experience too” Mark
replied… Lomax went to his desk and retrieved his weapon; a Five Sixty Karson, and shield
generator. He clipped the generator to his belt and switched it to auto. He was about to
leave but went back to the drawer and picked up two extra charge packs…

Marven Vasilly was walking away from the ruins of the Casino. He had seen a blue
Sedan leave the rear of the Casino about six minutes before the explosion heading to
Beldam Bronx area. He’d been in the Casino only an hour before; collecting protection
money for “Mr” Glass’s goon Herne. Herne would have been recognised by the beat Force
Officer in the pay of the Lucerne Family so when Herne had seen Marven he’d paid him a
couple hundred to do the job for him. Marven walked away slowly and headed to where
Herne had parked up.

“You must be the luckiest beggar alive! That blast would soon have the place crawling with
Force and god knows who and what. Any idea as to who planted the bomb?” Herne asked

“Here’s the package I collected” Marven said and thrust a bag into Herne’s lap. “I saw a blue
Sedan with Hedebar plates come out from behind the place just before the shit hit the fan.
You owe me a favour when I’m back in town. My brothers and I are heading over to the
Gynax System to do another “accident on purpose” for a wealthy client. Tell your Sis I said
hello will you. I just hope Morden doesn’t find out about me and her. I’m giving you the two
hundred back for Marxie, his birthday’s coming up. Tell her to get something nice for the
kid” Mundey replied and hailed a cab. Herne was gobsmacked; he had always wondered
who Marxie’s Father was, but he never suspected Marven Vasilly! He headed back to Glass’s
apartment smiling. Wait till the boss hears about that Sedan; Gaston and he would be
paying a certain old comrade an unwelcome visit.

Lomax and Hurden arrived at the scene and Lomax singled out Jinny and Corrigan
and pulled them aside.

“Some of what I’m about to say is off the record and not to be used in your reports in the
current circumstances. You will have an exclusive when I am able to give you more. Do I
have your cooperation or do I have to take your broadcast licences?” The pair nodded. “I’ll
be fronting a Media Conference in two hours. As you know this Casino was a joint venture
