CHRIST SHINE
T he softball season is not only a time of hard
practices and tough games, it is a time of spiritual
growth and unity between teammates. The two
most stressed areas are depending on the Lord for the
ability to play the game and keeping your testimony in
the face of adversity. The games are not all “easy win”
games, so it is common for the ladies to become fatigued.
That is when Coach Kris DeWitt steps in and quotes to
the team Isaiah 26:3: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect
peace, whose mind is stayed on thee....” Coach is
constantly reminding the team to keep their minds on
Christ by talking to Him and depending on Him for the
strength to play hard.
Practice, although it is tough, is one of the most
enjoyed times. It is a time for making good friendships
and growing spiritually. It is not abnormal for Coach to
stop practice and ask one of the players what they got out
of their devotions for the day. At the end of each pratice
and before each game they have a verse and a time of
prayer. This is when the team is challenged spiritually, so
that the team’s testimony remains strong when game
time arrives. -Lara Brown
