ROBERT CO H AN E HURLEY
Broadcasting Club, V, VI; Flying Club, V; Football, III, IV, Letter, V, VI;
Hockey, III, IV, Letter, V, VI; Spring Track, III, IV, Letter, V, VI.
A three year veteran of Moses Brown's renowned German De
partment, Bob is a member of the H.P. Fan Club. In a never-end
ing quest to further his campaign for this illustrious gentleman,
"Hurl" spends winter afternoons playing "Eis-Hockie". But Bob's
talents also extend to the football field during the fall, and he al
ways believes in leaving something behind for the fans to remem
ber him by. The Pomfret fans have the greatest souvenir— his pants.
Hurl's academic talents are most noteworthy in Senior History, as
he holds the school record for guessing the title of twelve history
essays in succession. All through school, however, Bob has waited
for that final time after the long term ends, when he will hop into
the "tank" and make that final ride on the trail from M.B. to the
Ponderosa.
JOHN IRVING HYLAND
Cross Country, V, VI; Flying Club, V, VI; Glee Club, V, VI; Winter Track,
Letter, V, VI; Spring Track, Letter, V, VI.
John Hyland, who was almost refused admission as a junior, has
proved himself to be a valuable member of the class. After re
maining in the shadows last fall, he emerged in the Winter Track
season as a star hurdler, high jumper, and sprinter, and was the
team's second highest scorer for the season. John, with his fierce
competitive spirit, is less than happy running behind classmate
Pete Lacaillade, who is one of the few prep hurdlers better than
John. Generally John is hard working and liked by all, and a boy of
all around good character. Incidentally, he spends his summers at
Block Island, where he first met the agent from D .O .C. He finally
emerged as a scholar this fall, when his class rank jumped to nine,
and he made honors, a testimonial to what hard work can do.
PETER ENO LACAILLADE
Class President, VI; Cross Country, Letter, VI; Dance Committee, President,
VI; French Club, Executive Committee, VI; Glee Club, Librarian; SAC Vice
President, VI; Winter Track, Letter, VI; Spring Track, Letter, VI.
Never doubt anyone who says that Pete Lacaillade is fast. Aside
from breaking school records, often his own, in almost every track
event in which he competed— not to mention several state rec
ords Lac distinguished himself by winning the Senior Class
Presidency. His great concern for the class welfare drove him
great distances in order to secure a band of renown for a prom
that will long be remembered by all as a "real good show." In
order to finance this gala event, Lac went to the extreme of
modeling a daring piece of apparel in front of the entire student
body. Such conscientiousness is rarely found, and whatever Pete
decides to do in the future will be a success. After all, he does
everything efficiently . . . and fast.
