FTER seeing his J. V. Basketball Team, in
their first three games, swamped by Poly
APrep, Plorace Mann, and Barnard, Coach Chase
sought to bring new talent into his ranks and
imported Cam Baher, Bob Franklin, and Jack
Hoyt, who, together with Sweeney, Elliott, Burr,
and Anderson, helped spark the team to a star
tling, unexpected comeback.
The first victims of the onrushing tide of
Trinity victories were St. Paul’s, 54-35; Adelphi,
33-32; McBurney, 30-23; and the Browning
Varsity, 76-71. In the latter encounter, Ed
Sweeney tallied twenty-six points.
After losing a heartbreaker to Fieldston, 32-
30, the J. V. chalked up two more wins over
St. Paul’s and Friends Academy. Following this
contest, the J. V., led by the fine ball-handling After splitting two games, conquering Adelphi,
of Hoyt, won another over Riverdale. 50-41, and bowing to Poly, 54-28, Trinity, de
