Glee Club
N ICK WARD’S powerful “veiled threats” each morning this year,
reassured everyone that the Glee Club was still an integral part
of Trinity School life. Although the Glee Club was often mocked,
it was extolled on Tuesday mornings for the first period study hall
it provided for the Upper School. In addition, the Glee Club’s 1 :30
daily sectional rehearsals serenaded those returning from the lunch
room with a variety of tunes ranging from “The Lord is a Man of
War” to “Falling in Love With Love.”
The results of these practices were exhibited many times through
out the year. The Glee Club first tested its vocal chords at the
Two Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary Service at Trinity Church. The
annual Christmas Carol Service, the Service of Witness at the Ca
thedral of St. John the Divine, and an informal recital with the
Chapin Glee Club followed during the season. After the latter
appearance, a short dance was held, a proper ending to the after
noon’s festivities. A gathering of a number of private and boarding
schools at Pingry on May 22 ended the Glee Club’s year of vocal
izing on a sound note.
