      song,  but the beginning of the school and

      work  week.  According  to  Germanic

      factual,  and a  bit of ficticious legend,  the

      names  of  the  week  were  developed  when


      the  Roman  soldiers  invaded  the  area  of

      the  Teutons.  The  Romans  arrived  in

      Germany  and  the  Teutons  heard  them

      call  Monday  dieslunae  (“day  of  the

      moon”) .  They  were  astonished  to  see

      soldiers  pray  to  the  moon  on  this  day.

      The  Teutons  translated  dies  lunae  into

      Monadag.  From  there  it  is  easy  to  see


      how  Monday  was  derived.  Monday  at

      school  meant  the  beginning  of  the  week,

      a  long  week,  but,  sometimes,  such  as

      three-day  weekend.  Those  were  the

      Mondays  everyone  liked.

          According  to  junior  Chuck  Rogers,

     “Mondays  stink!  Everything  goes  wrong
                                                 W onday    som etim es  education  class.  No,
                                                meant  a  little  bit  of Sun­  not  the  interstate-
     on  Mondays  because  it  is  Monday!”     day driving by the drivers  please-it’s  Monday!
