Although It Was A Year
Of Rebuilding, The Men
Performed Better Than
M
* «'■ • 1 Although the loss of eight quality
players from the previous season left
many gaps, the Lord brought together
a team blending newcomers with
some veterans which accomplished
more than was anticipated. The chief
molding factor was the team’s com
mitment to its theme, “We make it
our goal to please God.” Regular Bi
ble studies and devotionals focused
attention on this theme from many
angles. Its application to the different
experiences of the season proved over
and over that “Our God is an awe
some God.”
Another key factor in the team’s
accomplishments was the help given
by the coach’s assistant, Bruce Edgar.
His outstanding knowledge of the
game, his training innovations, and
his encouraging spirit motivated the
players tremendously.
Highlights of the season included
double wins over Webber (the second
of which was keyed by Mike Smith’s
five goal outburst), and an exciting 2-
2 draw against Miami Christian on
their field.
Todd Kelly, a veteran of
the team, kicks a pass

Mark Canterbury, an
other returning player.
Although preventing
them as much as pos
sible is important, inju
ries are an inevitable
part of an athlete’s life.
